Meet the Team
Dr Debabrata Jana holds a PhD in Stem Cell Biology and Genome Editing from CCMB. With postdoctoral studies in translational reproductive biology, he brings over 9 years of research experience. His expertise lies in establishing Genome Editing technologies, particularly CRISPR pipelines in Stem Cells. Additionally, Dr Jana has contributed to the development of innovative methods and media formulations for culturing mammalian embryos, creating in vitro stem cell models such as stem cell-derived blastoids and organoids.

Dr Jyotsna Dhawan

Dr Jyotsna Dhawan is a distinguished scientist whose research focuses on the biology of stem cells and regeneration. She obtained a PhD in cell biology from Boston University and pursued postdoctoral work on adult stem cells and gene therapy at Stanford University. Dr Dhawan joined CCMB in 1996, where her group studies how dormancy of adult muscle stem cells may contribute to their resilience and regenerative function. From 2009 to 2014, Dr Dhawan was deputed to establish the Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (InStem) in Bengaluru. Dr Dhawan is a Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy and has served as President of the Indian Society for Cell Biology (2020-22) and President of the Indian Society of Developmental Biology (2019-22). Dr Dhawan currently serves on the scientific advisory board of Ignite Life Science Foundation, an effort by scientists, entrepreneurs and management professionals to promote the life science ecosystem in India.
